Fat Transfer

Fat transfer, also known as fat grafting or lipofilling, is a cosmetic procedure that involves removing excess fat from one part of the body and transferring it to another area to enhance volume or contour. This technique is commonly employed for facial rejuvenation, breast augmentation, or buttock augmentation.

The procedure typically consists of three main steps: harvesting, processing, and injecting. In the harvesting phase, fat is usually extracted from areas like the abdomen, thighs, or flanks using liposuction. The harvested fat is then processed to purify and prepare it for injection. Finally, the processed fat is strategically injected into the targeted area to achieve the desired volume or contour.

Fat transfer offers several advantages, including natural-looking results, reduced risk of allergic reactions (as the transferred fat comes from the patient's own body), and the dual benefit of contouring both the donor and recipient sites.

Common areas for fat transfer include the face to address volume loss, the breasts for augmentation or reconstruction, and the buttocks for a procedure known as the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).

Consulting with a qualified plastic surgeon is essential to assess suitability, discuss expectations, and determine the most effective approach for achieving the desired results through fat transfer.
